My February..

My February has been an amazing experience.
I’ve always wanted to visit different places, see the world but I’ve never been able to due to a few personal issues. Now I am back on my feet, I realize I can do anything I want to do.. the first step of my year was booking a trip to NYC. I can honestly say it was such a wonderful experience.

I stayed over in Brooklyn with Mr Joey L who was very kind to put up with me for just under two weeks. We watched stupid movies (ps. he’s scared of munkees in the Wizard of Oz, doesn’t clean and wears long johns = hot.), I styled him, ‘helped’ on one of his shoots where he was modelling for a magazine and he shot some wonderful images of me, a way in which I’ve never been photographed before.. Go over to his blog to see them!
I met up with the lovely Lindsay Adler (me and Lindsay are doing a fashion workshop business and photographer Felix Kunze – there was plenty of mishappenings going on. Everyday was a new experience. However, my iPhone decided to break in the first week and Apple were extremely unhelpful in fixing it, which made my trip difficult to organise especially with business meetings! I managed to get myself a $15 US phone that I can take on future trips, and it’s much cheaper too!
I took a visit to MOMA to see the Tim Burton exhibition – I have admired his work since the age of five so it was great to see his ‘real’ work and how his work has progressed. Anyone that is in NYC should go and visit!
I went along to my trip with my sidekick Damon Baker, who almost made me late for the flight to Amsterdam ;) and met up with Hannah & Eric once we landed.

(from l-r Felix Kunze, Lindsay Adler, Joey L, Me, Brad & Gina Kugler) out in The Cabin bar.

I also got a new tattoo, this IS going to be my last one. I said that about the last one (on my foot) but they are addicitve. I’ve wanted this one on my wrist for a while. So, while I was in NYC I went to Smith Street Tattoo Parlour to get this hot piece of ink
I WILL be back in NYC in April for workshops and then hopefully be there for a few months from June for a few different things.

This month I have several shoots to complete, I miss shooting personal work – it’s been a few months now since I’ve done any shoots for myself and I miss it. I realize how much I love my job when I crave to work!
I am shooting a few things for fashion week at the moment and have several meetings in London over the next week, lots of good things happening!

ps. a new interactive blog design is coming soon!

Isn't it strange how something as painful as tattooing is addictive? I've gotten one so far and have plans for many more, go figure, LoL.

Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait from June last year – makes me realise how far I’ve come, I remember how I felt on this picture. Helpless, trapped, vunerable.. over half a year later and I’m quite the opposite.

“Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

caroline: You're so gorgeous. (March 30, 2010 5:54 am)

MA Shumin (馬淑敏): "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

Always love the quote, live by it
